Longevity of immunity against SARS-CoV-2

Currently, the longevity of immunity against SARS-CoV-2 is one of the most burning questions and we will have to be patient until sufficient evidence will have been collected. Nevertheless, will ELISpot become a key tool to test for this? Maybe! Why? It has already been widely used to answer similar research questions thanks to its exceptional sensitivity to detect antigen-specific T-cell responses.

For example, previous publications using <a href="/products/3420-4apw-4-0">human IFN-γ ELISpot</a> show the presence of specific T-cell responses up to 11 years after the first SARS-CoV outbreak in 2002 (<a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18832706/">Li et al., J Immunol. 2008</a>; <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7115611/">Ng et al., Vaccine, 2016</a>). Time and research efforts will tell whether we will see similar immunity towards SARS-CoV-2.
